Peter Phan started helping his parents with their gas station and restaurant business when he was in high school. Following graduation, he decided to join the family business. This gave him hands-on experience that he would later be able to apply when he had his own business. Fast forward to 2021, Peter’s brother was ready to take a step back from Katana Kitchen, a business they were partners in. Following this conversation, Peter started the process of obtaining financing to buy out his brother.

Initially, he reached out to the Business Banker he has a relationship with at FNB, Jeff Smith. After understanding Peter's business needs, Jeff recommended an SBA loan and that he should reach out to Mark Moreno. Mark, one of our experienced Business Development Officers, and Peter discussed the options and felt like an SBA 7(a) loan would make the most sense.

Peter had this to say about his experience working with Mark Moreno and FNB Small Business Finance:

Everything went great! Mark was always there when I had a question about anything and everything related to this loan. He directed me throughout the entire process and ensured I was comfortable with each and every step. From A to Z, he helped with everything! I have already talked to my family about working with Mark on a few other business needs we have. Mark was great and I would absolutely recommend him and the team at FNB Small Business Finance. I couldn’t thank him enough for helping me achieve this goal.

We enjoyed partnering with Peter on this Partner Buyout and wish him success moving forward!
