While most people are aware of 24-hour emergency veterinary clinics, many are still not aware that board-certified veterinary specialty services are available, just like they are in human medicine. As pets become valued family members, board-certified specialty services offer owners the highest level of care through referrals from family veterinarians for complex and acute case management.

Three board-certified veterinarians – Dr. Laura Dvorak, Dr. Amy Fauber, and Dr. Peggy Sayer – set out to bring a specialty clinic with exceptional patient care and client service to Charlotte, NC called Charlotte Animal Referral & Emergency (CARE). The CARE veterinarians were interested in building their clinic in a convenient, central location in the heart of Charlotte. Being in a location that would be easily accessible by their clients was very important to the team of veterinarians.

CARE provides advanced diagnostic and treatment options for pets. Their comprehensive range of services and treatments include, but are not limited to:

  • Emergency Services
  • Surgery – orthopedic, soft tissue, oncologic and emergency
  • Internal Medicine – ultrasound, endoscopy, rhinoscopy
  • Cardiology – echocardiograms, electrocardiogram, blood pressure measurement, cardiac catheterizations, and pacemaker placement
  • CT and MRI
  • Neurology – medical neurology, brain and spinal surgery

The team of veterinarians at the CARE clinic turned to FNB Small Business Finance for an SBA loan they could use to purchase a piece of commercial real estate in a prime location. Working closely with FNB Small Business Finance's Business Development Officer, CARE was able to secure the commercial real estate and working capital they needed to put their business plans in motion.

Dr. Peggy Sayer had this to say about her experience with our team:

“They have been fantastic to work with because we truly feel that he appreciates our business. When we spoke to other banks about our loan it seemed like we were asking them to do us a favor, but FNB Small Business Finance has always treated us like a valued customer. They have worked with us as a partner to help us solve problems and we feel like they have our back.”

With their SBA-funded loan, CARE will open in approximately 14,000 square feet of space with eight veterinarians on staff. They plan to expand the practice to over 10 veterinarians within the next year.
