Brackey Floyds is a family-style restaurant, owned and operated by Matt Hill, in Arlington, VA. If you’re from the South, you’ve probably heard of “meat ‘n’ three,” a traditional Southern-style plate loaded with meat and three vegetables, rotated by the season. Brackey Floyds puts their own unique spin on this meal, preparing all of their meats over a wood-burning stove. They offer a variety of meats, including brisket, ribs, sirloin steaks, and scallops, with an emphasis on serving local products. The restaurant is truly a family affair, named after Matt’s grandfather, and run by Matt and his wife.

Matt has been in the restaurant business for the majority of his life. He attended the Culinary Institute of America and has opened several restaurants across the country. Having worked in the Arlington community for the last six years and seeing its continued growth, he jumped at the opportunity to start his own business.

Matt was referred through colleagues to the head of FNB’s Bethesda office, who introduced him to one of our experienced SBA Business Development Officers. Together, they decided to go with an SBA loan to cover the cost of construction and remodeling, while still maintaining the flexibility and competitive rates that Matt was looking for. It was important to Matt to establish the restaurant in a building that had lots of character. A historic 1940s building with space for a large, outdoor patio to house their outdoor smoker, was just the ticket. FNB was able to create a lending solution for Brackey Floyds that best met their construction financing needs.

On his experience working with FNB Small Business Finance, Matt said,

Although there were a lot of hoops to jump through with the SBA loan, they were able to guide us through the whole process and make sure we had all the information we needed. Everyone at FNB was helpful throughout the process, and they were really willing to work with me as a first-time business owner. I would absolutely recommend FNB to other business owners.

We are so thankful for our partnership with Brackey Floyds and are looking forward to trying some of those breakfast brisket biscuits soon. We wish them all the success in the future.
